You Are My Sunshine Baby Shower

The You Are My Sunshine Baby Shower was for my cousin in law, Lauren, and her precious sunshine to be, Scout. I originally made this party package for a sweet customer as a birthday theme and knew I wanted to get my hands on it for a party set up at some point! The You Are My Sunshine Package is available in the shop as a Baby Shower and a Birthday Party! Heather from Heather Carpenter Photography did such a fantastic job capturing all of the great party details! I hope you enjoy:-)!

On the invitation the guest were asked to please bring a book with an inscription on the inside cover, instead of a card, to help start Scout’s new library.

1Full-Table

For the backdrop I used a bright yellow ruffle fabric found at Hobby Lobby; which reminded me of little rays of sunshine. The paper lanterns on the sides of the fabric were found in a mixed pack of three at Target! The banners were made by cutting out the pieces and attaching to the ribbon with two glue dots on each piece.

I used nut cups from The Bakers Confections to place in the cupcake towers; which were found at Target. I filled the nut cups with candies matching the color of the party. I saved money in this area and purchased candy from the Dollar Tree.

The cake was made by Rosebeary’s Designs! She was given the invitation and came up with this amazing cake which pulled the dessert table together perfectly! I used an old tea cart to hold the drinks and utensils. The adorable paper straws are from The Bakers Confections and can spice up any plain party cup.

I used mini gable boxes which I embellished with party logos for the guest to take home the left over sweets in!

I attached the mini candy bar wrappers to the Hershey’s with a little piece of scotch tape (this way it was easier for guest to open, instead of using the glue dots).

My mom cut holes in the 12×12 photo boxes (found at Hobby Lobby and Michaels) to turn them into cone holders! I used regular printing paper and rolled it into cones for the popcorn. Then I attached party logos to the front. It was hard to get pretty little circles when cutting the cardboard boxes, but that was easily fixed by adding shredded paper in the holes to cover up the rough edges. The Oreo Pops were made by my friend, Lauren Scheck. They are always everyone’s favorite sweet treat to eat at any party I host!

The amazing cookies were made by my best friend Alyssa Trepagnier from Bonbon Du Jour. She makes them in her spare time away from her day job! She is very talented and I always love her work! You can contact her on her facebook page to request a custom order! YES she will ship!

For the cupcake toppers I used crepe paper and fanned it into a circle; then attached the party logos with hot glue. I then took the entire thing and taped it to the lollipop sticks.

I attached thank you tags with bakers twine to the pens for guest to take home. The pens were found in the dollar section at Target and came in packs of two. They coordinated with the party colors perfectly!

Guest were asked to fill out a ‘Wish Note’ and fill it with advice and wishes for Scout to read when she is older.

The diaper cake was made by one of Lauren’s best friends who helped host the shower. I loved how she wrapped it in tulle!

Two of Lauren’s best friends (pictured with her in one of the images below) helped me out with the party and they did such a great job! They were in charge of the games; which turned out to be a blast! They had a sheet handed out with several shower games on it for prizes. Then they played the dirty diaper game; one of my all-time favorite baby shower games. Different candy bars are melted on diapers and the diapers are passed around for guest to guess what type of candy bar made the diaper messy:-)!
